Jim Manzi, Chairman
Mr. Manzi has been a major figure in the information technology markets for more than 20 years. As Chairman, President and CEO of Lotus Development Corporation from 1984 until its sale to IBM in 1995, he was at the forefront of the PC software market, pioneering the development of the "workgroup computing" marketplace with a revolutionary product called Lotus Notes, years before network computing and the Internet were everyday phrases. Prior to Lotus, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company where he worked extensively with Fortune 500 clients as well as offshore clients in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Since 1995, with his investment company, Stonegate Capital, Mr. Manzi has been involved in the creation and development of numerous technology start-up ventures. He also serves as chairman of the board of Thermo Electron Corporation. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Colgate University where he created and chaired its Technology Committee. Mr. Manzi received his MA in International Relations from Fletcher School, and his BA in Classics from Colgate University.
Hillel Kobrinsky, Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board
Hillel Kobrinsky brings a rare blend of vision and pragmatism to his role as Chief Operating Officer. As co-founder of Interwise, Mr. Kobrinsky realized early on that the company needed a winning team to make the vision a reality. His leadership is evident in the progressive work environment at Interwise — designed to bring aboard the most qualified and experienced people, foster loyalty and maximize productivity.
Prior to co-founding Interwise with Frank Zvi, Mr. Kobrinsky partnered with Mr. Zvi on a broad range of activities that drew upon skills he'd developed while coordinating and leading highly successful projects to computerize training courses. He also has extensive experience in personnel management, project management, budgeting, and resource scheduling. Mr. Kobrinsky received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Management, magna cum laude, from Bar Ilan University in Israel.
Frank Zvi, President and Chief Executive Officer
As President and CEO of Interwise, Inc., Frank Zvi is responsible for the guiding the the Company's vision into successful strategies and delighted customers.
Mr. Zvi co-founded Interwise in 1994 with the vision of delivering live, real-time collaboration, conferencing and learning over the Internet. Together with Mr. Kobrinsky, Mr. Zvi raised the equity required to make Interwise, Inc. and the enterprise technology, ECP Connect™, a reality.
Since co-founding Interwise, Mr. Zvi has strengthened the Company's market and financial position via successful partnerships such as Accenture, Deloitte, Equant and EMC. He has been the driving force behind the rapid growth and market position of the Company. Mr. Zvi has established Interwise as a visionary and leader in the enterprise communications market.
A former pilot and flight school instructor in the Israeli Air Force, Mr. Zvi had the breadth and depth of knowledge in air-to-air communications and real-time decision-making to lay the foundation for his vision of leveraging the power of computers and the Internet to create a true enterprise-wide conferencing, collaboration and learning platform. Prior to founding Interwise, Mr. Zvi was the systems architect for Israel 's award winning Jewel-of-the-Crown real-time software system.
Mr. Zvi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Management from Bar Ilan University and has completed graduate work in systems analysis.
Rob Bernstein, Leeds Group Inc., Director
Mr. Bernstein is the co-founder of Leeds Weld. From 1987 to 1993, Mr. Bernstein held various positions within the mergers and acquisitions department of the investment banking firm of Lazard Frères & Co. Mr. Bernstein was a financial analyst in Lazard's New York office from 1987 to 1988 and an associate in the firm's Chicago office from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, Mr. Bernstein returned to New York to join the firm's media and communications group. Mr. Bernstein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
John Landry, Adesso Systems, Director
With nearly 30 years of experience building world class software and software companies, Mr. Landry currently serves as chairman and chief technology officer (CTO) of Adesso Systems. Previously, he served as Vice President - Technology Strategy at IBM, a unique position charged with discovering and evaluating new disruptive technologies emerging from "edge" companies for possible incorporation into IBM's top-level corporate strategies. He assumed this position after leading IBM's Internet Strategy task force, a position assigned to him by CEO Lou Gerstner in 1995 to define IBM's e-business strategy across the corporation. This assignment followed IBM's acquisition of Lotus in 1995, where Mr. Landry had served as senior vice president, development and CTO from 1990. Prior to Lotus, he served as senior vice president and CTO at Dun & Bradstreet, Cullinet Software, Distribution Management Systems and McCormack & Dodge Corporation. He is currently a director and investor in several private high technology companies. He holds a BA in Finance from Babson College where he serves as Trustee and part-time instructor.
Russ Planitzer, Lazard Technology Partners, Director
Mr. Planitzer was a General Partner at J. H. Whitney & Co. from 1981 through 1993. While at J. H. Whitney, he established a strong investment record by focusing on early stage companies, including Wellfleet Communications. Mr. Planitzer left J. H. Whitney to become CEO of Computervision (formerly Prime Computer) where he reorganized the business to focus on high-end computer-aided design software and restored its profitability. In recognition of these accomplishments, D. H. Brown and Associates named Mr. Planitzer CEO of the year in 1995. He orchestrated the sale of Computervision to Parametric Technology Corporation. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. In addition to being Managing Principal of the Lazard Technology Partners, Mr. Planitzer is also a Managing Director of Lazard.
